Kindermusik Village™ includes eight different units (8 weeks each) of music for newborns to 1½ year old children with their parents. Parents register for a semester containing two units of classes. If a child ages up to Our Time during the semester, parent and teacher together will determine what plan will be best for the child.
Kindermusik Village™ is designed for lap babies, crawlers, and walkers, newborn to 1½ years accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Kindermusik Village™ introduces multiple levels of developmentally appropriate activities occurring simultaneously with other babies of this age range. In class we may see one baby rocking gently in Dad’s arms, another waltzing on grandma’s toes, and yet another bouncing on Mom’s knees all at the same time. Depending on whether your baby is on your lap, crawling, or walking, I will help you select various activities.
Babies need a parent or caregiver to be truly “present” and observant. Please observe your baby and discover his/her preferences. Document this at home in your journal or baby book. Sometimes the mother of a walker will be concerned about wandering…this is a natural behavior. If you need ideas for engaging your child in an activity, please let me know. Sometimes lap babies and even crawlers will fall asleep, and all babies may be fussy from time to time. This is also expected. The parent is asked to just chant or sing along and be ready to try the activity out at home where baby is more settled or less tired. Please actively participate in class and listen to your CD and read your book at home with your baby!
Kindermusik philosophy values the education of the whole child in mind, spirit, and body. In class we will balance the education of your child by experiencing both vestibular, (ear and balance) and visceral (heart and gut) stimulation. In Kindermusik Village we will open each class with a gentle gathering time. During class there will be lots of touching and embracing, a wide range of movement such as rocking, bouncing, flying, swooping, and special attention to vocal development through play activities. We will also incorporate baby signs where appropriate. I am very excited about facilitating your relationship with your child through music!
In order for you to enjoy and get the most our of your Kindermusik class, the following suggestions are recommended.
Please bring a soft crib size blanket or bath towel with you for activities that require you or your child to lie on the floor.
Remember to dress comfortably. We frequently are moving and sitting on the floor.
Both parent and baby are shoeless in the class.
All belongings are kept with shoes on our shoe shelf and coat rack.
Nursing and bottle-feeding are permitted in class, if you feel the need, relax against the wall and observe the activity to do at home. Please set bottles and sippy cups out of reach of the other children.
The first five or ten minutes of class will be used to purposefully come together. I will play soft music and have instruments or other materials on the floor for you and baby to explore. Please greet and visit with other parents and get settled during this time. If you arrive late, please join us!
I have antibacterial wipes so that we can wipe certain of the instruments off during and after class.
Should your walker or crawler become curious about my CD player or instruments under the table cover and I am involved in class, please redirect him/her.
Please help me keep Kindermusik free of distractions by keeping non-class related discussions to a time before or after class.
Due to the nature of the Village class, siblings may not come. (Check with me if you have any questions).
Guests may visit a Village class if arranged with me prior to class. Bringing a friend to introduce them to Village or bringing grandma are welcome opportunities.
If you need to change a diaper, you may do so in the Kindermusik bathroom, where I have a changing table for your convenience. Please take soiled diapers with you. I empty my trashcan when it is full and a dirty diaper can be pretty pungent after a few days.
If you miss a class, check with me to visit another baby class for a makeup. Credits are not given for missed classes. Makeup classes must be made during the same semester classes are missed. Kindermusik classes fall into the category of "non-returnable merchandise".

The 8th class of the first unit and the 1st class of the second unit are combined. This is standard practice to allow our semester classes to coincide with each other at all age levels.
An Annual Family Registration Fee of $25.00 is required for new families and all fees are non-refundable after class begins. Balance for tuition is due and payable the first class. Payment plans are available on request.
No refund will be given for missed classes. Treat this like any school opportunity you participate in. If you have any questions speak to Julie Stewart.

Kindermusik Our Time® includes four different semesters of music for children 18 months through 3 ½ years of age. Students register each semester for classes.
Relax and enjoy music with your very young child. If your child cannot focus on the activities and does not sit by your side at all times – don’t worry. As long as your child is in the room, he/she is participating in Kindermusik. Gently lead your child into the activities. The Kindermusik classroom is a sound environment. It is a place of discovery and a place where it is okay to explore and experiment. Most children adore music. They love to dance, to sing and to play instruments. However, a group music experience may be new to your child. He/she may be shy in the group – which is okay. You may see a completely different child at home as you share your Kindermusik activities there. Most families do. As a parent, it is important for you to assure that the environment in which your child is growing includes music, body awareness and movement, freedom of self-expression, exploration of the imagination, and the emergence of self-esteem. Kindermusik classes will assist you in creating an effective learning and growing environment in which your child’s musical instincts are encouraged and rudimentary musical skills are developed.
My goal, as a Kindermusik educator, is for the time that we are together in class to be the most stimulating, the most nurturing and the most positive experience possible. The very nature of the young child, who is 18 months through 3.5 years old, makes these goals a challenge for both of us. The responsibility for creating a magical experience for your child rests on the shoulders of the Kindermusik® educator and the parent/caregiver.
The following guidelines for our 45-minute class each week will assure you that you and your child have a wonderful experience in Kindermusik.
These guidelines should help everyone enjoy class more!

A curriculum created exclusively for Kindermusik families by Signing Smart Inc.—one of the nation’s leading experts in child development and sign language. In only five lessons, you’ll learn the research-proven methods shown to speed language development in hearing children, ease frustration, and enhance long-term learning abilities.
What’s the class about? Each day you’ll walk into a classroom full of activities and toys—each with a learning purpose in mind. She’ll learn the sign for her favorite things, and you’ll learn the signs for things that you want to know—such as “HELP,” “FINISHED,” “MOM,” and “DAD.” You’ll play, sign, and sing. Your little one will learn sign language faster when she’s having fun—and playing with you. So we’ll sing songs and insert the sign as we say the words, play with toys, and help her learn both the spoken word and the sign.
You’ll see parents and their children learning to communicate. When your child is chasing a soap bubble or asking for the ball, you’ll make the sign for it, and say the word. So she has three ways to associate the word with the object: she holds the ball, she hears you say the word, and she sees you make the sign.
You’ll learn a lot, too. You’ll learn to spot your baby’s most “teachable moments,” and you’ll learn the sign language teaching methods of the experts, such as making the sign in front of a child, on your child’s body, or when she looks up at you in wonder as if to ask, “What’s that?” Plus you’ll learn to recognize and respond to your child’s versions of signs.

Infant - 17 month camp - Village; 18 month - 3.5 years camp - Our Time; 3.5 years - 5 years camp - Imagine That; 5 years - 7 years - Kindermusik for the Young Child; Voice and Musical Theatre Camps - Kindermusik for the Young Child.
A pleasing voice is a valuable asset. Voice lessons are specifically pursued to develop an expertise in singing and performing.
The study of voice includes singing and breathing technique, basic music theory and solfege (sight-singing), listening skills, and opportunities to perform in a variety of venues, recital, and Master classes.
In addition to the above, vocal training will enhance language development, better memory skills, vocabulary and diction, and the ability to recognize the different elements of good music and good vocal technique. It will also develop patience, self-esteem, creativity and an understanding of one’s own limitations and ability to excel.
It is recommended that students take advantage of all performing opportunities. During the school year students will work on a variety of music for technique, and learning, Christmas solos, and recital pieces. Additional music may be brought in by the student to allow preparation for other performances they might be involved in.
Master classes and workshops, Summer Voice and Musical Theatre camps may be held as schedules allow. Competition through The Clayton Music Club Festival is also encouraged.
Tuition is due at the time of each private lesson. The cost for private lessons is $22.00 per 30 minute lesson, $32.00 for a 45 minute lesson, and $42.00 for a 60 minute lesson. Monthly payments are derived for school year lessons by adding the total number of lessons in a school year and dividing by the number of months. This takes into account any holidays or teacher workdays and will consequently provide both teacher and parent an equal monthly payment to rely on.
Materials for private voice are determined based on your child's skill level.
Teacher has one free class to miss during the semester to cover her illness or extended weather complications.
A $20.00 returned check fee is payable on all NSF checks. A $10.00 late fee is accessed after 25 days late, and will be incurred monthly until paid.
