Voice Lessons
Voice lessons are offered for children 8 years through adult and scheduled once a week during the school year. New students are added as space is available. One way of making an easy transition into the fall schedule is to take summer lessons if you are a new student.
Individual lessons are $22.00 per 1/2 hour lesson, $32.00 per 45 minute lesson, and $42.00 per 1 hour lesson. Only advanced students are recommended to take 45 minute or 1 hour lessons. Payments are broken up into monthly amounts over 9 months after determining the schedule for the school year. They are payable September through May.
A mini-summer semester is available June-August and new students are encouraged to begin at this time. This typically consists of a set number of lessons arranged with both of our schedules in mind.
Pageant coaching is also available on a limited basis as time permits.
What happens during a voice lesson?
Proper posture, breathing technique, vocal strength and placement, and learning how to project your best sound are all focused on throughout the lesson time. Presentation and poise are also considered as lessons proceed. In addition, all students will receive information on vocal awareness and vocal health to maintain good habits in singing and protecting the vocal mechanism. Basic music theory is included as a part of lessons periodically and can have a stronger focus if parent/student desires.
Will there be performances?
All students prepare vocal selections for presentation at the Festival of Trees in Smithfield, the Clayton Senior Center, and The Coffee Mill in December, and the Riverwood Street Festival in the Spring and Recital in May. Other singing opportunities are also considered. Competition is available through the National Federation of Music Educators Festivals.
Private Voice also available through the summer
